All-Japan Intercollegiate Winter Tournament will start on the 22rd of March in Tokyo (Cycling takes place in the outskirts of the city) for all sports.

Qualified teams (see below) and their cheering squad will leave at 9am on Monday 21st March from Toyama on a 5-hour journey to Tokyo. They will have lunch on the way and then head to their hotels. Indoor sport teams (Basketball, Volleyball & Swim) will be staying at the same hotel close to the sport arena. Outdoor sport teams (Baseball, Tennis & Cycling) will be staying close to the sport centre.

Once the team is eliminated, the buses will head back, however, those wanting to stay are allowed to and they do not need to return with their schools. Expenses, should they choose to stay, will be covered by the individuals themselves. All expenses during the tournament are covered by their universities.

After the Chubu tournament, we realised that it is difficult to talk about NPC teams when we don't have their names, for that reason, we have now added real universities that tend to compete in All-Japan tournaments. There isn't much information about all sports (Intercollegiate Basketball is the largest and most popular amateur tournament in Japan, so finding information about them was easy. I found some information about Baseball and Tennis as well) so we used well-know universities or those of different regions in Japan. This will give a more realistic feel. Those will be used for future tournaments as well.

From the comments in the previous and private talks, we have decided to take some of the ideas into consideration and simplify how matches are scored.

Swimming and Cycling will remain the same.

Volleyball and Baseball will be 100% random when playing against one of the 8 schools. When playing NPCs, all 8 schools get a 2 draw handicap.

Basketball, the whole system will remain when playing NPCs. When they face each other, the character point system will be dropped and only scoring restrictions will remain.

Tennis, the point system will remain. All players will be granted one extra draw for their school when facing NPCs. Top players will be granted 2 extra draws against NPCs, 1 draw when facing other players.
Based on canon info, the top players at the moment are:
Atobe / Yukimura / Shiraishi / Sanada / Akutsu / Tōyama / Marui / Fuji / Niō / Gin / Oishi / Kite / Kirihara / Echizen / Tezuka (not in the list but using common sense) and some high schoolers.

Since we are about to have our 1st All Japan Tournament, I thought it would be a good idea to give members  information about how matches are drawn and scored. They are different between sports, but the principle is the same: God of Random decides!

Besides interaction, the teams are limited per university to allow both loss and win while still having your muse doing well or badly, at your own discretion. Just because your team lost doesn't mean you muse didn't play their best if that is not what you want. Yet, having playable characters in your team earns them special points or handicaps to make results more realistic.

NPC and playable teams without any character being played can still win. The reason being that Toyama is one prefecture out of 47, it would be very unrealistic and rather silly if only these 8 universities could win best 8 all the time when there are around 780 universities in the country.

Now, for details:

wall of text )

DRAWS
This is the order of play, how teams are paired to play.

Practice matches: 100% Random

InterDai: 100% Random

Prefectural
/RegionalsEach payable team is matched wit an NPC for the 1st round. 1st winner qualifies for nationals

Chubu:
Payable teams + 16 NPC enter a triangle qualifier block chosen 100% randomly. All playable teams go through to Best 16, some NPCs are disqualified. What team each plays in the best 16 will depend on whether they won or came in 2nd in their qualifier block.
All Japan: Only 2 or 3 teams from Chubu are allowed in the Nationals depending on Prefectural and Chubu tournaments. There are 8 reasons in Japan making a total of 16 teams. Only or 3 are playable and will be set so they do not meet before semi-finals (if 3) or finals (if 2). NPC teams may still win All Japan.

Nationals: Similar to above, however, only some playable schools will qualify, so the tournament will starts with either best 16 or quarter finals. It has not yet been decided. It's not guarantee that a playable team will win nationals, but at least one will get to the final match.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

From Saturday 20th February, the Chūbu Winter Tournament should begin. Chūbu encompasses nine prefectures: Aichi, Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, Nagano, Niigata, Shizuoka, Toyama, Yamanashi. There will be more than 30 universities taking part, therefore, we will not be having brackets for that part of the tournament. For the best 16 qualifiers, brackets will be added to the tournaments website and a link posted.

There are NPCs teams for NPC universities for all team sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis and Baseball) since they compete one on one. Swimming and Cycling will compete together with all the other universities of other prefectures, so there is no need for creating NPCs.

NOTE: Swim and Tennis individual tournaments run parallel to the university league, so if any swimmer or player would like to take part in an individual tournament, please post a message here.

All clubs leave of Saturday 6am by bus from their respective universities to their destination (see below). The 1st round of preliminaries start of Saturday 12pm. We will assume that all teams have qualified for the block round on Sunday, starting at 9am. Below you can see 8 blocks of 3 teams each, they play against each other and the team with less wins will be disqualified. The remaining 16 teams shall continue to the best 16 round (and will be added to the brackets). Not every university will go through and even and NPCs have a chance to win the tournament, so to make it more realistic. Only 2 or 3 teams will be qualified to the Nationals in March and will join the regional winners.

Hello comm lovelies~

It's that time again. In February, all clubs will be taking part in the Chubu Tournaments. Chubu is a part o Japan with several prefectures. The teams who won the prefectural tournament are already through to the Nationals in March, however, they still compete in the Chubu tournament. All ther other universities still have a chance to go to nationals.

On Friday next week there will be practice matches for the team sports [Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis and Baseball]. Each team will be only playing twice and on the same day, in the order stated below. Matches will take place at the hosting university from 8.30am. Club members of those 4 sports are away the whole day.

PRACTICE MATCHES )
Swim and Cycling clubs have whole day practice on Friday and no lessons.

If you need early results for plotting purposes, please let us know.

Hello tired university students!
Please, read the information below carefully.

  • UNIVERSITY WINTER HOLIDAYS
Students taking part in the tournament (all of them besides medics & trainers) do not need to attend classes anymore. The last day of official classes is Friday 18th December. Classes restart on Monday 11th January

  • VERY IMPORTANT RULE UPDATE
The comm keeps growing (yay!) and we now have 5 different sports and potentially more to come (finger crossed!), so I believe it is time to set some rules on characters mix sport skills.

To avoid pointless debates, the rule is quite simple:  When playing a different sport, a character of one series is only as skilled as the least skilled in-game character of the other series.

Exceptions:
  • Characters who in canon are said to be exceptionally good/have skills at other sports. Please, use common sense.
  • The least skilled characters is known in canon for being awful at the series sport. (Whether they are better now or not is at the discretion of the mun as should be respected.)
  • Character has been shown playing other sports in canon or there are other references which give comm members an idea of their skills.
Limitations:
  • Skills considered extraordinary in one sport do not have an effect on other sports. E.g., Akashi (KnB) cannot use the Emperor Eye when playing tennis, the same way Yukimura's yips in not effective in Volleyball, etc.
  • Due to the different levels of 'crack' and 'Dragon Ball Zness' between series, whatever strange super human skill a character has in their series, does not have an effect on characters of other series, unless agreed between muns. This rule DOES NOT APPLY TO SPORT, even if agreed between muns, in sport, the rule above must be preceded
Any questions about certain characters and how this rule would affect them, please don't hesitate to ask below.

  • SPECIAL TEAM POSITIONS
Some characters are allowed to take different positions in the team besides players, swimmers, cyclists. These positions are:

Coach/Trainers (new)
Canon teacher/coaches.
Highly skilled players. E.g., PoT ShinPuri high schoolers.
Other adults known in canon for playing the sport skilfully.

Assistant Coach
High skilled players with coaching experience or personality for the position. E.g. Tezuka.
Coaching major students.
Female players in canon said to be good. E.g. Michimiya

Trainee Trainers
Characters who have in canon and inclination to train.
Have trained/taught others at a semi-professional level.

Coach/Trainers and Assistant Coach go to tournaments and training camps, Trainee Trainers are not necessary during tournaments but should attend training camps.

On 3rd December at 4:30pm (after classes) all coaches, regulars and some other club members (some managers, medics and NPCs) of all 8 universities catch their uni buses and set out to the 2015 Winter Training Camp, held at the recluse Hotel Tateyama in the Tateyama mountains. They will return on 7th December after lunch.

There will be indoor facilities for all sports, of course. Cyclists will also be cycling outdoors. As well as practicing with their own team members, they will be, for most part, separated in 4 random teams (see below) for both practice and matches. There will also be some hiking up the snowy mountains in groups. Once practice is over everyone is free to mingle, have dinner together and use the hotel facilities (public bath, lounge, cafe etc). Swimming and Cycling clubs will not be divided in teams and instead will be practicing in one big group and competing individually.

Please note that all rooms and team have been chosen by the God of Random, not by the mods nor by members.

Hello comm people!

Some of you have been asking about layout of the student dorms and the bedrooms. None of your mods are architects so it isn't easy for us to come up with a blueprint of all 4 dorms. I decided on an alternative, The Sims!

I worked on the layout for the medium size room, the one in Murasaki Rooms
BEDROOM )

It's quite simple. You can imagine it larger for those more expensive rooms at Tulip, and slightly smaller for cheaper ones. Also, in the picture there is a bath in the bathroom, but that is mean to be a shower. No bath in any of the bathrooms.

The general idea of the dorms would be like this:
EXTERNAL )
You can try and imagine higher for those dorms with more than 2 floors. For some reason, the image is not loading, please check here http://postimg.org/image/6yn2p2cnj/

1ST FLOOR )
Kitchen, laundry, smoking area and some benches to chill.
There are only 15 rooms in this example because The Sims has lot size limitation.

2ND FLOOR )
The dark rooms would be female and male onsen, internet/computer room and a lounge area.

Parking would be outside that map.

It's not perfect, but I hope it helps! :)

TOYAMA UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

Please note that all 3rd years looking into a Bachelor degree must study a 4th year. For foreign students, Japanese Bachelor degrees are between 4 to 6 years depending on the course.

Those taking technical courses can graduate after 3 years most the time. To go into further education they will need another year to complete a Bachelor.

Bachelor degree holders can go straight into PhD.

Thank you.

HELLO GORGEOUS COMM PEOPLE!

This is your evil!mod. I wanted to remind you of a few things. Please do read or I will cry rivers of sadness.

1. PLEASE DEFRIEND [personal profile] tachibanamako

2. PLEASE RUN THE QUICK ADD  AGAIN since many new people have joined and you don't want to miss anyone!

3. ON MONDAY 9TH NOVEMBER AT 10AM we will have the InterDaigaku Tourmanent so please check when you characters will be playing and whom they will be playing against. I will be posting results tonight for those plotting for logs. Remember, results are random (weighed by strength tho) but you are free to have your character win on lose in Tennis or Swimming regardless of the team result. Your player must be a regular but they can be benched or injured (no horrible injuries allowed... like leg eaten by a shark). Please try to use the tournament as a way of interacting with your team mates or university mates as well as others.

4. INTERDAI SEMI-FINALS WEDNESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER & FINALS FRIDAY 13TH NOVEMBER. Only schools competing in semi-finals and finals will skip class to come and support their university. If one uni is competing with more than one club, the mun can choose what sport to watch. All matches are held at Toyama Sports Arena.

5. HALLOWEEN WINNER'S
next weekend (Saturday) they will be all together on a bus to the ryokan in Kurobe for the night, courtesy of G-Box. Go ahead and plot log and have fun.

6. COMM 'STORY SO FAR' UPDATE FOR NEWCOMERS I was wondering if you guys want us mods to write a synopses post as to what is happening in the com so far so everyone knows and can be up to date with the 'story'. Give your opinion!

The Winter Tournaments are here! Get your boys and girls ready!

The Winter season starts with the InterDai Tournament (InterUni) on Monday, the 9th November at 10am. It will be held at the Toyama Sports Arena, located close to Toyama Higashi Station (near Shirataiiku and DMDU). All clubs have received information about their respective matches and groups on Monday, the 2nd of November.

The results of the matches will be posted online on the day on the link below

InterDai Basketball Winter 2015 / InterDai Volleyball Winter 2015
InterDai Tennis Winter 2015 / InterDai Swimming Winter 2015

Find bellow details of how this tournament will roll. Any question, please ask!

Volleyball and Basketball are single-team sports. They compete in a single elimination tournament. There are 2 groups, A and B. The 1st round is a Round Robin. Teams in each group will play against one another for points. The top 2 in each group will proceed to quarter-finals.

Round 1 to 3 matches will happen on the same day. Group A will play in one court, Group B in another.

The Groups and matches are as follows:

Basketball Matches )
Volleyball Matches )

Tennis and Swimming compete individually as part for a team, therefore they go through single elimination and do not play a Robin Round. There is only one group separated by seeded teams (stronger) but the matches are chosen randomly. They play only that team. Winners continue to quarter-finals. Round 1 will be played on the 9th November. Because there are many matches, only one round can be played that day. In Swimming they all compete on the same pool. Match A and B are help in one tennis court(1), C and D in another (2)

For these 2 sports there could be individual tournaments. If you would like your charater to play in an individual tournament, please state here and a bracket will be opened with the participants. NPCs will be added.

HELLO COMM PEOPLE!
I've decided to make a few announcements here because seems that not everyone is reading the beautiful comm info I'm putting out there.

1. IF YOU NEED LINKS TO COMM DATA. Please go to [community profile] teamuni  . On the left side you can find a list of 'Taken Characters' with details of characters per uni, what they study, what year, journal and mun. There is also a 'Clubs & Teams Info' so you know what characters are doing what in each club. Also, 'Residence Info' to know room numbers and where everyone is, and 'Part-time Job' for those working. If your character is working, please fill in the form and submit.

2. ALL  STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE PRACTICE MATCHES HAVE FRIDAY OFF. That excludes Kise, Kuroko, anyone who has just arrived, anyone who was sick. They have classes as normal. Also, ALL regulars must have taken part if the practice matches. They have to have been there but could've been benched and not played. They still get a day off. Who played or didn't is up to muns in the team. Please, follow results here.

3. MONDAY IS NATIONAL HOLIDAY IN JAPAN. EVERYONE IS OFF

4. TERM EXAMS START ON TUESDAY 13TH

5. IF YOUR CHARACTER IS A MANAGER, COACH OR MEDIC
rather than a player, please specify below.

6. IT'S GAY PRIDE IN OSAKA ON SATURDAY 10TH so for all you openly proud gay boys and girls (and allies), you can add that to their schedule for the weekend if you wish.
